Under 9s Summer Competition

The Under 9s competition is designed for players who have reached a basic skill level in batting and bowling (i.e. players must be able to bowl on the pitch without throwing). It's the first foray into "real" cricket matches, and is the perfect next step after your young cricketer has completed the Cricket Blast program.

We have a few places available for players in the Term 1 U9s competition.

Age requirements

The age your child is at on 31 August determines the relevant age group. Players who are aged 7 or 8 at 31 August 2025 are eligible to play in the Under 9 competition. Based on ability, players may be permitted to play up in age groups. Female players can play down two age groups.

If you are unsure which age group or competition your child should be playing in, please contact us.

Games

The Under 9 competition is focused on participation, with all players given equal opportunity to bat, bowl and field in different positions. The game is played on a pitch 16m in length and a Kookaburra 110g Soft-a-ball is used.

All Under 9 games are 20 overs in length, and are mainly held on Saturday mornings from 8am to approximately 11am.  Your team will also have some afternoon or early evening games. Your Team Manager will advise the team of game details and how to access the draw.
